This September marks the 45th anniversary of the foundation of the gallery, and we have decided to celebrate it with a new exhibition of Joaquín Torres-García in Barcelona. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Uruguayan-Catalan master. Our gallery has been linked from the beginning to his work and his environment, so it was the perfect moment to present this exhibition.

For this celebration we wanted to count on the collaboration of some of our collectors and thank them for their support during these 45 years, which is why many of the works on display come from their collections. Many of the works that have been loaned to us for this occasion came from our gallery, it is therefore a great opportunity to see many paintings that have not been exhibited to the public for a long time.

The exhibition covers the artist's entire career: from his beginnings in Barcelona, with a figurative work that shows his talent and future personality, to the constructivism that he began in his last years in Europe, and which exploded when he returned to Montevideo in 1934. We will also see several of his toys, a facet of his work that he developed with his brand, Aladdin Toys. Although it was a company plagued by problems (fires in its factories, suspension of payments...) it was a work very dear to Torres-Garcia, which allowed him to develop his educational concerns.

The selection of oil paintings on canvas and cardboard, watercolors and drawings, has been made with the intention of showing the enormous evolution of JTG throughout his life, an evolution that makes him one of the most interesting artists of the 20th century with a very personal trajectory.

The celebration of our 45th anniversary with this exhibition of Joaquín Torres-García in Barcelona will last until 30 October.
